You may have heard the quote about the three hobbies you need in life. “Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative.” This sounds pretty straightforward, right? But what does this mean?
Does this mean you can only have three hobbies? What if you have one hobby that does two or all of those things? Are you limited to having three, separate hobbies that do these three separate things? No, of course not! Spend half of your life with your one hobby if that’s what you love, so long as you’re fulfilling your life in all three areas.
In my 19 years, I’ve had plenty of hobbies. Anyone who knows me can tell you that. Drawing, playing instruments, gaming, and plenty of other things (that don’t involve sports) have been added to my repertoire since I was three years old. I haven’t kept up with all of these hobbies, of course.
As a college student, I don’t have time to do everything I used to do. That means I have to be pickier about my hobbies. However, I don’t have all three of these yet. I’m not even sure if I have two! Fortunately, I’m at the point in my life where I can start figuring this out. You likely are, too. And so, I invite you to join me in thinking about the three hobbies you’ll be adopting to enrich your life.
