Sometimes a lot goes on in our lives that makes it hard to stay positive. Here are 7 ways to be more positive every day, even when life's got you down.

Sometimes a lot goes on in our lives that makes it hard to stay positive. We don’t always know how to stay positive when we’re down in the dumps and feeling super negative about everything. We might feel like the whole world is against us at times, but that’s not the best way to think.

I’ve been dealing with a lot health-wise and school-wise, and it’s been hard. When something’s always going wrong, it can be discouraging and difficult to deal with. Staying positive in the midst of the storm is all you can do, because otherwise, you’ll never change your situation.

"Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative." Sounds pretty straightforward, but what's it mean? I invite you to join me in thinking about the three hobbies you'll adopt to enrich your life.

You may have heard the quote about the three hobbies you need in life. “Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative.” This sounds pretty straightforward, right? But what does this mean?

Does this mean you can only have three hobbies? What if you have one hobby that does two or all of those things? Are you limited to having three, separate hobbies that do these three separate things? No, of course not! Spend half of your life with your one hobby if that’s what you love, so long as you’re fulfilling your life in all three areas.

In my 19 years, I’ve had plenty of hobbies. Anyone who knows me can tell you that. Drawing, playing instruments, gaming, and plenty of other things (that don’t involve sports) have been added to my repertoire since I was three years old. I haven’t kept up with all of these hobbies, of course.

As a college student, I don’t have time to do everything I used to do. That means I have to be pickier about my hobbies. However, I don’t have all three of these yet. I’m not even sure if I have two! Fortunately, I’m at the point in my life where I can start figuring this out. You likely are, too. And so, I invite you to join me in thinking about the three hobbies you’ll be adopting to enrich your life.

It's so important to take care of your mind and body. These are 11 self-care affirmations I've adopted that help me through this crazy journey we call life.

In honor of mental health awareness month, I have created a list of self-care affirmations I’ve adopted that help me through this crazy journey we call life. Self-care is incredibly important, and it wasn’t until recently that I found out how much we need it.

I’ve learned a lot about myself and about life since I started college. It’s been the first time in my life that I’m struggling so much with myself. I have big goals for my future, and I’ve been trying to improve myself and my skills so I can achieve them.

I realize I’ve been rushing to become the put-together adult I aim to be.  Sometimes I have to take a step back and tell myself to slow down. I’m fortunate to have someone in my life who reminds me to take it easy. Sometimes, though, we have to be that person for ourselves.

Nobody is as mean to you as you are to yourself. That’s just how the little voices in our heads work. They’re little demons whose only purpose is to mess with us and make us feel bad. They want to keep us down, keep us sad, keep us from being who we want to be. We have to learn to tell that little voice, “Hey, screw off! I’m better than that!”

That’s why we have to learn to practice self-care. We have to love ourselves before we can properly love others. We have to care for ourselves before we can truly care for others. That’s why I’m sharing with you the 11 self-care affirmations that keep me going. This way, you can improve your own quality of life, and share your positiveness with others.
